Well, I just shipped my sister off. She and I had a good time last night. The Stalker Chick Convention should have stuck around one more night. I think you would have really enjoyed this show.

The crowd was a bit timid at first, but they warmed up. I met Sean (BIG OOT) and his friends. He brought a ton of friends to the show and from what I could tell, they turned out to be fans by the end of the night.

Charlie was in rare form. He was very interactive. He talked to and talked back to the crowd quite a bit. He even gave a pic to one of the guys up front and let them play his guitar a couple times which they got a kick out of. He drank a lot of the shots that were passed up to him. At the end of John OReilly he got down in the crowd and was letting them sing into the mic.

Which reminds me. I sang TWS. I sucked though. I went blank and totally fucked up the verses. I asked Scott when I got up there to feed me lines in case I go blank, but I don't think he heard me. I just got up and hoped that the words would just come, and figured they would since I know the song....but they didn't. Charlie and Scott then fed me lines. I was told the crowd was behind me and liked it anyway. Eh. Mabye....maybe not, but I sucked. It bugs me I forgot the words. One of the Enablers later said I of all people should have known the words, but I haven't listened to the song in ages and long gave up on ever singing it again. That's my excuse and I'm stickin' to it.

He sang the new Kinky song. Which I like. New cover. Paradise City.

Maybe Sean will get on and tell more stories. He and his friends had a good time. It was nice to see them turn into fans right there.

The venue itself, which I really, really, want to do well, really disappointed me. It's a great looking bar, but the lighting was not good and for what I was told was a state of the art sound system....it sucked. Sound was better up by the monitors than it was about 25-50 feet back where it SHOULD have been great. Lee was running it - and you know he knows what he's doing, so I don't know why it was bad. But I will go on record as saying, I don't think it was Lee.

Oh well. Despite technical issues, fun was had by all.

Paradise City??!!!!!!!!! G-n-R?!!!!!!
Kick Ass!!!!!!! I can't wait to hear that one!!

Wow, sounds like a GREAT show!

I'm a little ashamed though about you forgetting the words. I think you are going to have a hard time living that one down. This will be great fun for me.

There's this thing called state-dependent learning. Therefore, if one learns the words to TWS while holding a Shiner in one hand with arms raised and armpits exposed, this would be the only way she would be able to do it on stage.

I'm kicking myself enough as it is.

Well I am still here..."Line please"

Just kidding Darlin.

Don't kick yourself, it's not easy getting up there and singing in front of everybody. Especially not being prepared.

You know, I wasn't even really nervous. I kept thinking, "sh*t. I can't remember the next line. sh*t. sh*t. sh*t!!!"

I thought for sure the lines would come to me.

Oh well. It was still fun and the crowd and Charlie didn't seem to mind so much.

Once Iowacowgirl started singing, she did just fine. No one really even noticed the little hitch in forgetting the words at the beginning. I thought it was a good show, as it was different seeing Charlie outside of Texas. In Texas, everyone knows who he is at the shows, but I am not real sure how many really knew him at this show. Charlie did a great job of getting the crowd involved, and by the end of the show, he had gained himself some new fans. After doing a headcount, my group included a total of 30 people. Some had already been down to Texas to see Charlie and were already fans. For those who this was the first time seeing Charlie, I believe most walked away fans. Everyone said they had a great time. Iowacowgirl, hopefully we were not as annoying as those in Chicago, as I know we were a little rowdy. We had a big pre-concert party, and some of us had quite a few beverages as it is extremely rare to get that many friends and family together, but it seemed like most behaved pretty well. I would have to agree that the only real negative was the sound system. It was very difficult to hear, and many in my group had the same complaint. Overall, once again, Charlie proved to me why I like going to his shows as it was a great time.

Your friends were great OOT! They were rowdy and loud, but they weren't rude. When rowdy loud people get rude...that's what ruins it. And your friends were just fun.

I am glad you all had a good time. I had planned to take a back seat that night, take it easy and watch it from the back of the room, but it got to be too much fun seeing the crowd warm up to Charlie so I stayed up front. I enjoyed watching them all go from quiet fans to dancing, singing, and having a great time. That was real fun for me.

My camera sucks. Here are the only half-way decent pictures from the Davenport Show.

I wonder if Charlie laundered that shirt from the night before?

Iowa - It does sound like a really great show!! AWESOME!!!! Hmm ... I am a little disappointed that we didn't extend the tour to include Davenport. Damn.

Speaking of extending the tour ...
